The skim

  • Samsung's clip-on Galaxy Buds On and the thinner Galaxy SmartTag3 are on sale in the US starting today, Nov. 6, per Samsung's US newsroom.
  • Buds On cost $229.99 in Black. SmartTag3 is $29.99 for one or $99.99 for a four-pack.
  • Buds On lean on open-ear comfort, Gemini Live and head gestures. SmartTag3 adds longer-range Compass View and Place Notification through Galaxy Find.

Why it matters

Both products left announcement and landed on store shelves the same day Best Buy's early Black Friday doorbusters kicked off. If you've been waiting on open-ear buds that stay out of your ear canal, or a cheaper Find My-style tag in Samsung's network, the wait is over.

Galaxy Buds On

Samsung's open-ear clip design weighs 6.65g per bud. The company says you get up to 9.5 hours of music on a charge and up to 38 hours with the case. A TwinBoost speaker, automatic volume (a Labs feature on One UI 8.5+), and Audio Leakage Reduction are the pitch for private listening on the go.

Hands-free extras include Gemini Live ("Hey Google, let's talk live"), Quick Voice Memo through the mic, and head gestures to accept or decline calls, dismiss alarms or read notifications. Gestures need One UI 8.5 or later and are off by default; some notification and alarm features need One UI 9.0+.

Color today is Black only at $229.99. To pair them, open the charging case near a Galaxy phone for the Connect pop-up, or use the Galaxy Wearable app — Samsung's Galaxy earbuds connect guide covers the steps.

Galaxy SmartTag3

Samsung says the SmartTag3 is thinner than prior tags and adds faster location updates on the Galaxy Find Network, plus cross-OS support. New features called out in the US release:

  • Compass View — distance and direction from up to about 60 meters (about 3x the prior generation), on Galaxy phones with UWB or Bluetooth Channel Sounding.
  • Place Notification — alerts when a tagged item enters or leaves a set area (trial feature in SmartThings Find).
  • Location History — up to 7 days.
  • Movement Detection Alert — notifies when movement is detected while the tag is offline from your phone.

Pricing: $29.99 one-pack or $99.99 four-pack. Keep tags secured — Samsung warns a detached tag can be a swallowing hazard for young children and pets.
