How Skimwire Uses AI

How Skimwire uses AI tools in research, writing and images, and how people stay accountable for what we publish.

Skimwire uses AI tools in its newsroom workflow. This page explains where, and how we keep it accountable.

Where we use AI

  • Finding and summarizing news. AI tools help us monitor announcements and sources and pull out key facts.
  • Drafting and editing. AI tools help draft and edit stories, headlines and summaries.
  • Images. Many feature images are AI-assisted editorial illustrations, not photographs of real people, products or events.

Our rules

  • Every story is checked against the primary sources it links to. If a claim can't be confirmed, we say so or leave it out.
  • We don't use AI to invent quotes, sources, screenshots or documents, or to depict real people misleadingly.
  • Skimwire's Editor-in-Chief, Jeremy Moon, is responsible for everything we publish, whatever tools were used to make it.
  • Errors are fixed under our corrections policy.
