Editorial & Corrections Policy
This page explains how Skimwire reports, labels and corrects its stories. Skimwire is an independent tech news publication founded by Jeremy Moon, its Editor-in-Chief.
How we verify stories
- Primary sources first. Every story is checked against primary sources wherever possible: company announcements, product pages, filings, court documents, official statements and published research.
- Original reporting is credited and checked. When a story builds on another outlet's reporting, we link to it and check its key claims against primary sources before publishing. If we can't confirm a claim, we say so or leave it out.
- Sources are linked. We link to the sources behind each story so you can check them yourself.
Labeling opinion and analysis
News stories report what happened. When we add analysis, context or opinion, we label it clearly in the text (for example, "Why it matters" or "Our take") so it isn't mistaken for reported fact. Sponsored content is always labeled as sponsored.
Corrections
We get things wrong sometimes, and when we do we fix them quickly and openly. If you spot an error, email skimwirehq@gmail.com with the story link and what needs fixing. We review every report.
- Substantive errors (a wrong fact, figure, name or quote) are corrected in the story, with a note at the bottom giving the date and what was changed.
- Minor fixes such as typos or formatting are made without a note.
- If a story's central claim turns out to be wrong, we say so clearly at the top of the story.
AI-generated illustrations
Many feature images on Skimwire are AI-assisted editorial illustrations. They illustrate the topic of a story and are not photographs of real people, products or events. When we use a real photo, such as an official product or press image, we credit the source where possible. We don't use AI-generated images to depict real people misleadingly or to fake evidence, screenshots or documents.
Affiliate links
Some links on Skimwire, including links to Amazon, are affiliate links. If you buy through one, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. As an Amazon Associate, Skimwire earns from qualifying purchases. Affiliate relationships never decide what we cover or what we say about a product, and we don't accept payment for positive coverage. Affiliate links are marked with a disclosure in the article. See our affiliate & AI disclosure for details.
