The skim

  • Do this now: Stop using any Bose S1 Pro / S1 Pro+ lithium-ion battery pack whose serial starts with 083723, 078352, 084105, 078591, 078592, 084106, or 086409.
  • Keep playing on AC: After you remove the pack, the speaker is safe to use plugged into wall power.
  • Free fix: Register the battery serial on Bose's recall page for a free replacement. About 634,759 U.S. packs are covered (plus ~35,400 in Canada), CPSC says.

What to do

  1. Power off the S1 Pro or S1 Pro+ and unplug it.
  2. Loosen the two screws on the bottom plate and remove the plate.
  3. Pull the battery pack out using the tabs.
  4. Read the 17-digit serial printed under the barcode on the pack label.
  5. If the first six digits match a recalled prefix below, stop using the pack and request a free replacement at bose.com/support/s1-battery-recall.
  6. Dispose of the recalled pack per local rules for recalled lithium-ion batteries — not household trash, curbside recycling, or store battery drop boxes.

Recalled serial prefixes

Per Bose and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, packs are included if the serial begins with any of:

  • 083723
  • 078352
  • 084105
  • 078591
  • 078592
  • 084106
  • 086409

If your serial does not start with one of those sequences, Bose says the pack is not in this recall and is safe to keep using.

The hazard

The recalled lithium-ion packs can overheat and ignite. Bose and CPSC list seven reports of packs melting, smoking, or catching fire, including six with property damage. No injuries have been reported. Packs sold with S1 Pro / S1 Pro+ systems and as stand-alone accessories from roughly December 2017 through July 2026 are in scope; individual packs sold for about $100–$160.

Bose: 800-278-1083 (9 a.m.–9 p.m. ET weekdays; 9 a.m.–7 p.m. ET Saturday). CPSC recall number 27-065 (Nov. 5, 2026).

Why it matters

Portable PA batteries fail differently than phone cells — and recalled packs need special disposal. If you gig with an S1, check the serial before the next load-in, run on AC until the replacement arrives, and do not toss the old pack in the trash.
