## The skim

- Apple's OLED iPad mini, M6 iMac and the new MacBook Pro models are available to buy today, Friday, Nov. 6, according to [MacRumors](https://www.macrumors.com/2026/11/06/ipad-mini-oled-and-m6-imac-available-today/?ref=skimwire.com) and Apple's October newsroom timeline.
- The new iPad mini starts at $699 (Wi-Fi 128GB) with an 8.5-inch OLED Super Retina XDR display, A20 Pro and IP67 water and dust resistance.
- We're skipping a MacBook Pro review rehash — those scores landed yesterday. Today's story is arrival day for the mini.

## Why it matters

Pre-orders opened Oct. 28\. Today is the first day units ship to customers and show up in Apple Stores and authorized resellers. If you held out for the OLED mini, it's a buy-now moment rather than another wait.

## What's new on the OLED iPad mini

Apple's [Oct. 26 newsroom release](https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2026/10/apple-gives-ipad-mini-its-biggest-update-ever/?ref=skimwire.com) listed the headline upgrades:

- **Display:** 8.5-inch OLED Super Retina XDR, up to 1,200 nits peak brightness, 2,000,000:1 contrast, 1-nit minimum. Nano-texture glass is an option on 256GB and 512GB models (+$100).
- **Design:** 5.4 mm thin, finishes in midnight and starlight, first iPad with an IP67 rating.
- **Chip:** A20 Pro with Neural Accelerators in each GPU core; Apple claims up to 4.5x faster AI performance vs the prior mini.
- **Cameras / audio:** 12MP Center Stage front camera on the landscape edge; Acoustic Display (speakers through the screen).
- **Wireless:** N1 chip (Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, Thread); cellular models get the C2 modem.

US pricing from Apple: Wi-Fi from $699 / $849 cellular; education from $649\. Storage: 128GB, 256GB, 512GB. Compatible with Apple Pencil Pro and Apple Pencil (USB-C). The new TechWoven Smart Folio is $79.

MacRumors notes early reviews criticize the lack of ProMotion (60Hz refresh). Face ID and MagSafe still aren't on the mini.

## Also available today

Alongside the mini, Apple's M6 iMac (from $1,499) and the latest MacBook Pro lineup — including the touchscreen PROLED models from $2,899 — are on sale. We covered first PROLED reviews in yesterday's [touchscreen MacBook Pro review roundup](https://www.skimwire.com/touchscreen-macbook-pro-proled-reviews-oled-touch/).
