- Description: Open Find Hub, select your tag, tap the gear, and enable Notify when left behind. Works on Chipolo and Moto Tag.

## The skim

- **Quick answer:** Open Find Hub → select your tag → tap the settings gear → turn on **Notify when left behind**.
- Works today on Chipolo trackers and Moto Tag in the U.S. and parts of Europe (observed on Find Hub \~3.1.787-06). Not for headphones.
- Your Google Account Home address is excluded by default so tags left at home should not alert you.

**Short answer:** In the Find Hub app, open a supported tracker, tap the gear icon on its detail sheet, and enable **Notify when left behind**. You will get a notification when that tag separates from your phone, except at your saved Home address.

## Before you start

- Android phone with the **Find Hub** app installed and updated (9to5Google observed the toggle on version **3.1.787-06**; that is an observed version, not a published minimum).
- A supported Bluetooth tracker currently linked in Find Hub. Hands-on reports confirm **Chipolo** trackers and **Motorola Moto Tag**. Other Find Hub tags are unconfirmed — look for the toggle yourself.
- Location: the feature has been reported for users in the **United States** and **parts of Europe**. If you do not see the option, you may be outside the current rollout.

## Turn on Notify when left behind

1. Open the **Find Hub** app on your Android phone.
2. From your device list, tap the **tag** (tracker) you want to protect.
3. On the bottom sheet for that tag, tap the **settings gear** icon in the top-right corner.
4. Find the section labeled **Notify when left behind**.
5. Turn the switch **on**. The description in the app says you will "Receive a notification when this tag is separated from your phone."
6. Repeat for each tracker. The setting is **per tag**, not global.

Some Play services notes mention a newer registration flow that can offer left-behind options when you first add a device, along with category icons (Bike, Luggage, Wallet, and so on). If you are pairing a brand-new tag, check the setup screens first; if the toggle is not there, use the gear menu above.

## How the Home exception works

By default, Find Hub excludes the **Home** address stored on your Google Account (the same one used in Google Maps). Leaving a tagged bag at home should not trigger an alert when you walk out the door. Outlets have not confirmed additional "safe places" (office, school) as live yet — earlier app-string teases are not the same as a shipped setting.

## What it does not cover

- **Headphones and earbuds:** the option does not appear for those device types in current reports.
- **Unlisted tracker brands:** only Chipolo and Moto Tag are confirmed in hands-on coverage. Do not assume every Find My Device / Find Hub accessory supports it.
- **Exact distance / delay:** no outlet has published how far or how long a tag must be separated before the ping fires. Do not rely on it as a hard security system.

## Troubleshooting

- **No gear toggle:** Update Find Hub and Google Play services from the Play Store, force-stop Find Hub, reopen, and check again. Confirm the item is a tracker tag, not headphones. Try from a U.S. or European network/account if you recently traveled.
- **Toggle grayed out or missing on one tag only:** that tag's firmware or brand may be unsupported. Check the manufacturer's Find Hub listing and firmware update path.
- **Alerts at home:** verify your Google Account Home address in Maps is correct. A wrong pin can make "home" look like somewhere else.
- **No alerts when you leave something behind:** confirm Bluetooth and location are on, the tag has battery, and you actually enabled the switch on that specific tag. Separation timing is unpublished — test in a low-stakes setting first.
- **Multiple tags:** enable the setting on every tag you care about. There is no confirmed one-tap "all tags" control in the reporting we reviewed.

## FAQ

**Does this work with Apple AirTags?**
No. This is a Google Find Hub feature for Android-linked Find Hub trackers. AirTags use Apple Find My.

**Will Pixel Tag support it?**
Google previously said left-behind notifications were coming to Find Hub alongside its own tracker plans. Pixel Tag's Nov. 11 window has been widely reported, but we have not independently verified left-behind on Pixel Tag for this guide — check the gear menu after you pair one.

**Is NFC required?**
No for this alert. Google has separately mentioned upcoming NFC shortcuts for tag details; that is a different feature.

**Can I add more safe places than Home?**
Not confirmed as available today. Coverage documents an automatic Home exception only.

## Why it matters

If you already own a Chipolo or Moto Tag, this is a two-minute settings change that closes a gap Apple and Samsung users have had for years. Turn it on before the next airport security line — and keep your Home address accurate so you are not drowning in false alarms.
