## The skim

- Anker's new eufy Window Camera E10 is a $79.99 indoor camera that sticks to the inside of a window and watches your porch, yard or driveway through the glass.
- It records 2.5K video (2688x1520) at 15fps and has color night vision with no spotlight, plus AI alerts that tell people, vehicles and pets apart.
- It runs on USB-C power (there's no battery) and records to a microSD card up to 256GB, so a subscription is optional. It's on sale now at eufy.com and Amazon.

## What's new

Anker's eufy brand launched the [Window Camera E10](https://www.eufy.com/products/t8404121?ref=skimwire.com) this week. It's an indoor camera built to look outside. You press it against a window with a reusable mounting sticker, and anti-reflection stickers help cut glare from the glass. Because it stays indoors, it doesn't need weatherproofing, and eufy says setup takes under a minute.

The key specs, from eufy's product page:

- **Video:** 2.5K (2688x1520) at 15fps, with an f/1.0 lens and a 125-degree diagonal field of view (105 degrees horizontal, 57 degrees vertical).
- **Night:** "MaxColor" night vision that eufy says shows color at night without a spotlight.
- **Aiming:** a dial on the back tilts the lens down by up to 25 degrees, which helps if you mount it in an upstairs window.
- **Power and storage:** plug-in USB-C with a 10-foot cable; microSD up to 256GB (card not included). eufy advertises "no monthly fees" for the core features, and cloud storage is an optional subscription.
- **Smart home:** dual-band Wi-Fi, Alexa and Google Assistant. It works with eufy's HomeBase S380, but eufy lists HomeBase S280 and Apple HomeKit as unsupported.

It costs $79.99 for one camera, and eufy also sells a three-pack for $239.99 (prices as of Nov. 4).

## Why it matters

Outdoor cameras are the usual answer for watching a front walk, but they're a pain if you rent, can't drill or don't want to run power outside. Window cameras get around that. [The Verge](https://www.theverge.com/tech/1026360/anker-eufy-window-camera-e10-indoors-security-ai-color-night-vision?ref=skimwire.com) points out that Wyze got there first with its Window Cam, which costs $34.98 but records only 1080p. The E10 costs more than twice as much and gets you higher resolution and a lens you can tilt.

There are trade-offs. The Verge notes that the E10's microphone only picks up louder noises from behind the glass, and with no rechargeable battery you'll need to route and hide a power cord to the window. Glass can also add reflections at night even with the anti-glare stickers, so it's worth testing your window before you rely on the camera.

## Who should consider it

Renters, apartment dwellers and anyone who can't mount a camera outside, especially if you want local recording without a monthly plan. If you're in Apple Home, look elsewhere, because eufy says the E10 doesn't support HomeKit.
