## The skim

- **The bill:** AT&T’s Protect Advantage Multi-Device charge rises from $50 to $55 a month on Nov. 17, 2026, according to its customer notice. That is $5 more monthly, or $60 more over 12 months at the new rate.
- **The coverage:** The plan changes from up to four eligible devices to up to four eligible connected devices plus two eligible non-connected devices. Those extra slots do not carry the same loss-and-theft insurance as connected devices.
- **The boundary:** This notice excludes customers with a New York account address. AT&T directs them to a separate insert; the figures below should not be applied to their plans.

## What changes on Nov. 17

AT&T’s [program-change notice](https://www.att.com/scmsassets/buy%5Fflow/wireless/digital%5Fbuck%5Fslip%5F49%5Fstates%5Ffinal%5F8-11-26.pdf?ref=skimwire.com) sets out both the price increase and a change in which devices qualify. This is an optional device-protection subscription, not a change to the price of wireless service or a new hardware launch.

The $5 increase is 10% of the existing $50 monthly charge. Twelve months at $55 totals $660, versus $600 at $50\. Those are calculations from the listed monthly charges, not an annual plan, a claim about taxes or a promise of what any particular bill will total.

The notice separately lists business tiers. Tier A also moves from $50 to $55, while tiers B and C remain $125 and $175\. Those are different plans; they should not be confused with the consumer Multi-Device coverage discussed here.

## More slots do not mean identical protection

The current non-connected category in the notice lists Wi-Fi-only tablets. The Nov. 17 column instead lists Wi-Fi-only smartwatches, headphones and earbuds. Connected devices include eligible smartphones, watches, tablets and laptops on the AT&T Wireless network, plus wireless home phones. Eligibility is subject to the complete terms, not simply owning a device in one of those categories.

The distinction between insurance and a service contract matters. Under the new table, insurance for loss, theft and damage excluding accidental damage from handling applies only to eligible connected devices. Service-contract coverage for accidental damage from handling and out-of-warranty malfunctions applies to both connected and non-connected eligible devices. Two accessory slots therefore should not be described as two extra fully insured phones.

The insert lists non-connected-device fees of $0 for repair, $49 for repair/replacement and $199 for replacement. It does not fully explain the routing between those categories. Connected-device replacement deductibles range from $25 to $400 by tier. Unlimited claims still have a $3,500 limit per claim, and a replacement may be restored or refurbished rather than new.

## What existing customers can check

Compare the notice with the exact plan name and account address on your coverage. [Asurion’s legal index](https://www.asurion.com/legal/att/?ref=skimwire.com) separates current and Nov. 17 terms, New York documents and older enrollments. We could read the official change insert, but the linked full Nov. 17 consumer terms page returned a loading shell rather than readable contract text. Device-specific eligibility, taxes and claim-fee routing need confirmation against your actual contract; this report is not an individual coverage determination.

The insert says enrollment renews monthly until canceled and optional coverage can be canceled at any time with a prorated refund of the monthly charge. The practical change is a recurring higher charge with a different coverage mix—not simply more devices for the same protection.
